The Grab-and-Go space located in the Ewing Leadership Wing in the Dempsey Student Center serves students who may be facing food insecurities within the daily school hours or helps a student who simply forgot their breakfast or lunch. This resource allows our students to grab a food item while they are on campus. We want to do our part to help students fuel their brain and stay focused.

Food insecurity can be defined as having limited or uncertain access to an adequate amount of food. 39% of students at a 2-year institution may be affected by food insecurities.
Feeding America explains that food insecurity is a complex problem, and according to them, 鈥淢any people do not have the resources to meet their basic needs, challenges which increase a family鈥檚 risk of food insecurity. Though food insecurity is closely related to poverty, not all people living below the poverty line experience food insecurity and people living above the poverty line can experience food insecurity.鈥
The Pantry was created to address food inaccessibility for students attending Sandhills. Through this service, we can help bridge the gap and provide students with nutritious, non-perishable food.
