起点传媒 is proud to announce the expansion of support to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) as part of the legislatively created initiative, Access to Achievement, which leads to increased employment outcomes for people with IDD.

Access to Achievement aims to provide these students with more inclusive learning opportunities, tailored support services for financial aid and benefits counseling, and pathways to meaningful employment.

鈥溒鸬愦 is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all students can thrive and the opportunity to participate in this extended pilot program is proof,鈥 said Dr. Sandy Stewart, president of 起点传媒. 鈥淭his expansion reflects our dedication to providing accessible education and fostering independence for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.鈥

Following a pilot program at two community colleges, state lawmakers set aside nearly $4 million for Access to Achievement that would be used at 15 schools in North Carolina. Thirty-two colleges submitted applications for the extended pilot funding and 15 were selected.

起点传媒 was allotted $194,000 to hire an achievement coordinator, classroom materials, supplementary programming, and professional development.  With the initial allocation, Sandhills was able to purchase a minibus with mobility access that will allow for more inclusive community and corporate partnership-based experiential learning experiences.

Sandhills will also partner with local businesses to provide on-the-job training and apprenticeships for the students. Access to Achievement also emphasizes the development of a Person-Centered Plan, guiding each student toward achieving their educational and career aspirations.
