Community & Cultural Engagement
The Brothers Achieving Success and Excellence (B.A.S.E.) program reflects our institution's dedication to fostering a culture of excellence, resilience, and belonging for all students facing barriers to success. Through targeted support, mentorship, and community-building opportunities, B.A.S.E. empowers minority males and other underrepresented groups to excel academically, personally, and professionally.
To ensure all students succeed from the moment they join our community, B.A.S.E. automatically assigns a Success Coach to students entering with certain risk factors. These factors include, but are not limited to:
A low (less than 2.0) high school or college GPA (grade-point-average)
First-generation college student status
Self-disclosed information upon entry that indicates a need for additional support
Registered disability
This proactive approach allows us to tailor support and guidance from day one, ensuring that every student has the tools and resources they need to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.
In addition to automatic assignment, any student or parent can request a Success Coach at any time. Whether you're seeking guidance on academic challenges, navigating college life, or planning for your future career, our Success Coaches are here to help. To request a Success Coach:
